Neurosurgery 360°

Neurosurgery 360° is a cooperation between gamelab.berlin and the neurosurgery department of the Charité, which aims to improve the learning process of aspiring neurosurgeons. A special camera is used to record stereoscopic 360° footage of various surgeries in the operating room and to connect it to the stereoscopic images of the operating microscope. This combination is enhanced with interactive elements such as X-ray images, MRI images, annotations and process descriptions and can be experienced in VR headsets. In this way, the complex spatial structure of the operating theatre is conveyed immersively and can be experienced and at the same time, the surgeon’s detailed view is integrated. The setup of the project is unique in the medical world and allows an insight into pioneering VR-based learning methods.
