RetroBrain R&D, the young company behind MemoreBox, is a spin-off of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and gamelab.berlin, where the founders were supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics as part of the “EXIST” programme.
RetroBrain solutions are now regarded worldwide as “a benchmark in the therapeutic gamification industry” (LIFT Basel) and have received numerous awards, including with the Eugen-Münch Prize (as an “innovative idea that makes the healthcare system and public health care fit for the future”), the Rudi Assauer Prize (as an “innovative approach in inpatient care for dementia patients”), from the technology company CISCO (first prize at the Germany Digital Healthcare Pitch) and most recently from the European Commission (inclusion in the “Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing”).
At the same time, the social entrepreneurial business model is regularly honored, for example by being named Social Business of the Year by WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management or by a partnership with Ashoka.
